  • Honestly, I’m pretty concerned about the health environment at McDowell lately. The chronic absenteeism is hitting over 25%, and you can really feel it—it seems like half the kids in my son's class are out every other week with something. It makes me feel like the sick-child policy isn't being enforced well, or maybe they just don't have enough staff to keep the building as clean as it needs to be. Communication from the school about what bugs are going around is basically non-existent, leaving us parents to guess. It’s hard to focus on wellness and learning when the basics of keeping kids healthy and in their seats aren't being met.
