  • Honestly, the health situation at O’Keeffe is pretty rough right now. While they list 'health and wellness' as a priority on paper with some dental and crisis services, the reality on the ground feels a lot different. The chronic absenteeism is a major red flag—it feels like kids are constantly out sick and the school is struggling to keep up with why. The attendance rates have been consistently low, which makes me think it’s either a lack of support for students’ wellbeing or just a cycle of germs that the school can't get on top of. It’s hard to feel good about the environment when you see those numbers and feel like the staff is spread way too thin to actually monitor how the kids are doing physically or mentally.

  • O'Keeffe is pretty decent when it comes to keeping us in the loop if something like strep or the flu is going around the classroom. The front office is strict about the 24-hour fever-free rule, which can be a pain for working parents but honestly, it probably helps keep the bugs from spreading too much. My only real gripe is that the bathrooms could definitely be cleaner and sometimes they run out of soap by the end of the day. It’s your typical CPS experience—teachers really care and try their best with the wellness stuff, but the building itself just feels like it needs a little more TLC and some better ventilation.
