  • Honestly, I have really mixed feelings about Horace Mann. On one hand, the teachers seem to genuinely care, but the chronic absenteeism here is a huge red flag that nobody seems to be addressing. It feels like there is always a bug going around and the school's communication regarding outbreaks or even general illness policies is pretty much non-existent. You kind of just find out your kid's whole class was out with something after the fact. The building itself is older and I’m definitely not convinced the ventilation or cleanliness is where it needs to be, especially in the winter months. It’s frustrating because the small class sizes should make it easier to manage health and wellness, but the attendance data shows something is clearly off. I wish they’d prioritize the physical health and environment as much as they do the curriculum.

  • Honestly, Horace Mann has been pretty solid for my daughter. Since it's a smaller school, the teachers actually notice when she’s acting a bit 'off' or coming down with something before I even get the call. The cleaning crew seems to be on top of things this year because we haven't dealt with nearly as many stomach bugs as we did at her last place. My only gripe is that communication about local flu spikes can be a little slow sometimes, but the staff is so caring that it makes up for it. It feels like a safe, clean spot for the kids.
