I really wanted to love this place because it's right in the South Shore neighborhood, but I have a few concerns about the health environment. With a 'Risk 1 High' category listing from the city, they really need to be on top of their game with sanitation, and honestly, it feels a bit cramped and sometimes disorganized. The communication when a bug is going around the classroom isn't great—I feel like my little one is coming home with a new cold every single week and I only find out other kids were sick afterward. It’s a smaller facility, which is nice for a more personal touch, but the cleanliness of the common areas just hasn't been consistent enough for me to feel 100% comfortable during flu season.

I've had my little one at Greater Learning Opportunity Academy for a few months now and honestly, I'm pretty impressed with how they handle the germ factor. You know how daycare is—usually kids are sick every other week—but they seem really on top of wiping down the toys and common areas in the South Shore facility. If a kid gets a fever, they call you immediately, and they are pretty strict about that 24-hour symptom-free rule before they can come back, which is annoying for work but great for keeping the other kids safe. My only minor gripe is sometimes the communication about a cold going around the classroom could be a little faster, but the teachers are so sweet and really care about the kids' well-being. Overall, it's a clean, solid spot!
