  • Being honest, I'm pretty concerned about the health environment at McClellan lately. The chronic absenteeism rate is super high, which usually means stuff is just going around and kids aren't getting healthy enough to come back. The building is older and even though I saw some construction paperwork for repairs a few years back, the ventilation still feels off and the bathrooms are hit or miss on cleanliness. It feels like we're always one step away from a major flu outbreak and the school's communication about it is pretty spotty.

  • My son has been at McClellan for two years now and honestly, I'm pretty happy with how they handle things. The school always looks clean when I'm in there for pick-up, and you can tell the janitorial staff actually puts in the work, especially during flu season. They are super strict about the 24-hour fever-free rule, which can be a headache when you have to miss work, but it definitely keeps the whole class from getting sick at once. Communication from the office is usually pretty fast if something is going around, though I wish the nurse was on-site every single day instead of just part-time. Overall, it feels like a safe, healthy spot for the kids.
