  • Honestly, I’m pretty frustrated with the health environment at Libby lately. It feels like the building is always dealing with some kind of maintenance or equipment issue—seeing those 'Board of Education' rental line items for equipment like heavy-duty fans/dryers makes me seriously wonder about the ventilation and dampness in the classrooms. Between that and the high chronic absenteeism in the neighborhood, it feels like once one kid gets sick, the whole class is out. It’s hard to prioritize 'wellness' when basic facility issues keep popping up on the board agendas. Communication from the school about health outbreaks is hit or miss, and I just wish there was more transparency about the state of the building itself. Not a place I’d recommend if your kid has asthma or sensitive allergies.

  • Honestly, Libby is a decent enough school but like most CPS buildings in Englewood, it feels a bit dated. The nurses are super sweet when my youngest scraped her knee, but I do wish they were more consistent with those automated calls whenever a bug is going around the classroom. Sometimes I find out a kid has been sick through the parent group chat before the school actually says anything. Cleanliness is okay, you can tell the staff tries hard, but the older hallways just always look a little dingy. Overall, they handle the basics well, but don't expect any fancy wellness programs or anything.
