  • So, my experience with Disney II has been a bit of a mixed bag lately. On one hand, the teachers really do care about the kids, but the school feels super crowded which definitely doesn't help when flu season hits. It feels like as soon as one kid gets a stomach bug, the whole classroom has it within three days. I wish communication about local outbreaks was a bit faster so I could keep my little one home before they catch it. Also, with the high student-to-counselor ratios we deal with in CPS, it sometimes feels like the emotional wellness side of things gets pushed to the back burner because everyone is just so busy. It's a decent school, but you definitely have to be your own advocate when it comes to your kid's health and making sure they aren't getting lost in the shuffle of a big city magnet school.

  • My youngest is at the Disney II elementary campus and honestly, the health stuff is pretty solid for a CPS school. The building on Kedvale is always kept really clean—you don't get that 'stuffy' school smell even during flu season. The office is super quick to call if there's a fever or a scraped knee, and they're pretty strict about the 24-hour fever-free rule, which I actually appreciate so things don't spread like wildfire. Only downside is that communication during the peak cold season can be a bit slow if a lot of kids are out, but overall, it feels like a healthy environment for the kids.
