  • Honestly, after being at Brown for a bit, the health environment is pretty stressful. The biggest issue for me is the chronic absenteeism—I heard it’s over 40%, which is wild. You can really feel it because when so many kids are out, everything feels inconsistent and it makes you wonder if there's a bug constantly going around the building or if it’s just a lack of support for families. The school is trying with the STEM stuff, and the early childhood programs are a plus, but the student-to-counselor ratio is way too high. My kid rarely gets to see anyone for social-emotional support when things get overwhelming. It's tough because the staff is nice, but they just seem stretched too thin to really keep on top of things like wellness checks or solid communication when everyone is sick.
