  • Honestly, I’m pretty frustrated with the health situation at Suder lately. Since it's a CPS school, they follow the standard district protocols, but it feels like the communication regarding illness in the classroom is always a step behind. With the chronic absenteeism rates hovering way too high—last I checked it was over 25%—it feels like there’s always a bug going around because kids aren't staying home when they're sick. The building is older too, and while they talk about infrastructure grants, you can really feel the poor ventilation in some of the classrooms. It’s hard to focus on the 'Montessori wellness' vibe when the nurse is only there part-time and the student-to-counselor ratio makes it impossible for kids to get actual mental health support. I love the teaching style, but the physical environment and the way they handle health outbreaks really needs work.
