  • Honestly, I’m pretty worried about the state of the building at Sandoval. There’s been a lot of talk lately about 'floor testing' in the cafeteria and ongoing infrastructure issues that the district is supposedly fixing, but it feels like the school is always under construction or dealing with facility problems. In a neighborhood like Marquette Park where we already struggle with resources, it’s frustrating to feel like the actual physical environment might not be the healthiest for the kids. The attendance rates aren't great either, and it feels like whenever one bug hits a classroom, everyone is out because the ventilation just isn't what it should be for a PK-5 school. I want to love it because the teachers try, but the health and safety side of things feels like it's constantly being patched up rather than actually solved.
