  • Honestly, keeping my kid healthy at Hurley is like a full-time job. The chronic absenteeism here is over 27%, which says a lot about the 'germ culture' in the classrooms—it feels like a rotating door of kids being out sick, and the school doesn't seem to have a solid handle on it. The student-to-teacher ratio is also around 28:1, so the staff is way too stretched to notice if a kid is sitting there with a fever or needs extra wellness support. Between the crowded rooms and the lack of clear communication on health protocols, it just feels like the bare minimum is being done. I really wish they'd focus more on the actual environment instead of just the magnet programs.

  • Honestly, I've been pretty impressed with how Hurley handles the germ season. My youngest is there now and the classrooms always look really clean, and you can tell the janitorial staff actually puts in the work. They are super strict about the 24-hour fever-free rule, which can be a pain when you have to miss work, but it definitely keeps the whole class from getting taken out by the same bug. The office is usually pretty quick to call if someone gets a scrape or feels under the weather. I do wish they had more outdoor time when the weather is decent, but overall, it’s a solid, healthy spot for the kids.
