Robert Emmet Elementary School

I honestly don't know how anyone could recommend a 'health environment' here when the school has been closed for a decade. My family has lived in Austin for a long time, and the loss of Robert Emmet in 2013 was a huge blow to the neighborhood. The building has just been sitting there, and while there's talk about a health authority taking over the site, right now it's just a shuttered property. It’s frustrating because our kids have to travel further now, and we lost that local connection to school nurses and staff who actually knew our families. You can't have a wellness culture in a building that doesn't even have students anymore.

I'm honestly so confused seeing any info about this place as a functioning school. Robert Emmet was actually closed down by CPS years ago back in 2013, so if you're looking for a healthy environment for your kids, this isn't it because it's literally not a school anymore. The building has been sitting there and the city finally sold it to a health authority to be turned into something else. It's a shame because the neighborhood needs good spots, but you can't send your kids here. It's just a vacant property being redeveloped now.
