  • Being honest, I'm pretty worried about the environment at Nash. Lately, it feels like the building itself is struggling to keep up—I’ve seen maintenance reports about motor starter replacements and other equipment issues, which makes me wonder about the HVAC and air quality for the kids. My son's classroom often feels stuffy, and with the high chronic absenteeism at the school, it's clear that health and attendance aren't where they should be. It feels like the school is constantly reacting to crises rather than having a solid wellness plan. I really wish they would prioritize the basics like better ventilation and cleaner common areas so the kids aren't catching every little bug that goes around.

  • Nash is okay when it comes to the health stuff, but it's definitely an older building so you see the wear and tear. I will say the staff is pretty quick about calling if my daughter feels warm or if something like pink eye is going around the classroom, which I appreciate. They do their best with the cleaning, but with so many kids in the fine arts programs, germs just spread fast. Usually, they're pretty strict about the 24-hour fever-free rule, but sometimes it feels like kids are back in class too soon coughing. Overall, it's about what you'd expect for a neighborhood CPS school—nothing fancy, but they care.
