Family Room/Southport Fundamentals

Honestly, the Southport location is super convenient and the staff is really sweet with the kids, but the space feels a bit tight for the number of toddlers they have in there. Since it's a smaller urban setup, I feel like when one kid gets a sniffle, it cycles through the whole classroom in like two days flat. I wish they were a little more strict with the sick policy because I've definitely seen some pretty 'green' noses at drop-off. It’s a decent neighborhood spot and generally clean, but you just have to be prepared for the constant daycare plagues that come with the smaller footprint.

We’ve been at Southport Fundamentals for about a year now and honestly, it’s one of the cleaner daycares I've seen in Lakeview. They are super strict about the 24-hour fever-free rule, which can be a pain when you have to miss work, but it definitely keeps the 'perma-cold' from spreading through the whole class every week. The teachers are really good about reminding the kids to wash their hands, and they send home quick updates if something like HFM or croup is going around so we aren't caught off guard. Only downside is the indoor space is a bit tight being right on Southport, so I wish they got more air circulation on those rainy days, but overall they handle the germ factor really well.
