  • Being totally honest, it’s a struggle with the health environment at Morton. While they’ve added some wellness workshops lately, the reality on the ground is tough. The chronic absenteeism is really high—like, way over 30%—and you can tell because it feels like there's always a bug going around and not enough staff to stay on top of it. The student-to-teacher ratios are also pretty high, so when a kid gets sick in class, it takes forever for anyone to notice or get them to the nurse. It feels like a 'turn-around' school that’s still very much in the middle of trying to fix deep-rooted issues with the building and general cleanliness.
