  • Honestly, Beaubien is okay, but it feels like a typical overcrowded CPS school half the time. My main gripe is how they handle the sick season; it feels like once one kid gets a stomach bug, the whole classroom is down for the count a week later. I wish the communication about outbreaks was a bit faster so I could keep my youngest home before it hits our house. The building is older, so the ventilation isn't the best, and you can definitely tell during the humid months or when everyone is cooped up in winter. On the plus side, the staff seems to care and they do try to keep up with the mental health aspect, but they just seem stretched thin with so many students across all those grade levels. It's a solid average for the city—not terrible, but definitely not a 'wellness retreat' for the kids.

  • Beaubien has been pretty solid for my kids so far. The school is generally clean, though you can tell it's an older building in some spots. I really appreciate how the nurse’s office actually calls you back when there's an issue instead of just sending a generic email. They're pretty strict about the '24-hour fever-free' rule which is annoying when you're working, but honestly, it probably keeps the seasonal flu from wiping out the whole classroom. Only downside is the lunchroom can get a bit hectic and I wish they had more time for recess to get some fresh air, but overall, it's a healthy enough environment for CPS.
