  • Honestly, I’m pretty concerned about the conditions at Sayre lately. While the preschool teachers are sweet, the building itself is showing some major red flags. I saw some public records about 'head assembly' replacements and boiler issues, and you can really feel it—the air quality in the classrooms is stuffy and ventilation seems poor. Plus, the student-to-teacher ratios are getting way too high for an elementary school. It’s hard for the staff to keep things clean or keep track of sick kids when they are that outnumbered. My kid has been coming home with a new bug every other week, and the communication about classroom outbreaks has been basically non-existent. We need more than just a language program; we need a healthy environment where the heat and air actually work.

  • My kid has been at Sayre for a couple years now and honestly, the health stuff is pretty solid. The school sends out emails pretty quickly if a bug is going around the classroom, which I appreciate so I can watch for symptoms. They're definitely strict about the fever-free for 24 hours rule, which can be annoying when you're scrambling for childcare, but it keeps the germs down in the long run. The building is older, but it usually looks and smells clean when I'm there for pick-up. Just wish the nurse was there every single day instead of the split schedule, but that’s just how CPS is right now.
