  • I have to be honest, I'm pretty uneasy with the wellness environment at Westside. The school has such a heavy history with past safety emergencies and trauma that it feels like the current mental health support just isn't keeping up. My kid says the counselor is always 'too busy' to talk, and it definitely feels like they are understaffed for the amount of emotional support these middle schoolers actually need. Communication from the nurse’s office is pretty hit or miss, too. When there was a flu bug going around last month, we didn't hear a word until half the class was already out. It just feels like health and safety are treated as afterthoughts rather than a priority.
