  • I’m pretty disappointed with the health environment at Jefferson. It feels like every other week there’s a new bug going around the classrooms, and honestly, the school’s response is usually pretty delayed. I remember them having to shut down entirely before because the illness rates got so out of hand, which just tells you they aren't on top of things day-to-day. Communication from the office about what's actually spreading is super vague, so you’re always guessing if it’s a cold or something way worse. I really wish they’d step up the cleaning and be more proactive about keeping sick kids home because right now it’s just a revolving door of germs.

  • Jefferson has been pretty solid for my son so far! The school is always really clean when I'm there for pick-up, and you can tell the custodial staff actually cares. I really appreciate that the nurse is so proactive—she sent home a quick email when a couple of kids in his class got strep, which gave me a heads-up to watch for symptoms. My only minor gripe is the sick-child policy can be a bit strict about the 24-hour fever-free rule even for sniffles, but honestly, I'd rather they be careful than have the whole class catch something. Overall, they seem to really value keeping the kids healthy and the wellness vibe is definitely there.
